Every year, here at Simply Paving, we hold our photo competition and every year we receive such a wide range of entries demonstrating just how creative our customers can be with the products that we supply. This year has been no different, with great skill exhibited both in terms of design and workmanship.
We have had such a difficult time choosing who to award prizes to, as all the entries deserve recognition for the work that has been put in. This year, we have chosen one outright winner who will receive a cheque for £500, three second place runners-up who will receive a cheque for £200 each and seven further runners-up who will each receive a cheque for £100.
From everyone in the Simply Paving team, we'd like to thank all who entered the competition and we're certain that the images will provide a great deal of inspiration for our future customers.
The only thing to do now is reveal the results...
The winners of our first prize and the recipients of a cheque for £500 are Mr Malcolm Bescoby and Mr Michael Blood of Nottinghamshire who used Bradstone Tile Paving in Mellow Terracotta to further enhance their already stunning Edwardian style garden. As we're sure you can see from the images, Tile Paving, with its rich terracotta shade, works perfectly with garden features such as pots and planters. The repeating pattern using both the square and diamond tiles adds a certain formality that is perfectly balanced with the worn and weathered appearance of the tile itself.
As for the garden itself, the red brick walls and brilliant white cast-iron furniture provide the perfect backdrop to the beautiful shrubs, hostas and topiary.
If you want to see the garden for yourself, it will be open to the public on Sunday 26th June 2016. All of the money raised from the open day will be donated to charity. Keep your eye out on our Facebook Page where we will confirm details closer to the time.
Congratulations, this is a garden to be incredibly proud of.
And now for the three second place runners-up, who each fully deserve their cheque for £200.
Mr Steven Harding of Gloucestershire has created a wonderful dining area using Bradstone's Carpet Stones in Rustic Red. The colour of the cobble works beautifully with the wooden fencing and summer house to create a really charming garden.
In these photographs, Mr Robert Goldsmith of West Sussex shows that practical can be beautiful. Using Bradstone's Driveway Infilta Permeable Block Paving in Brindle they have been able to create a driveway that is not only very pleasing on the eye but also conforms to the legislation regarding paving the front of your home.
Mrs Sally Escrader from Norfolk, featured on our Facebook Page at the end of 2015, with a superb series of before and after images showing the transformation of the rear of her property using Bradstone's Natural Slate Paving in Vijaya Gold. As you can see Natural Slate Paving offers outstanding natural beauty with every individual slab unique in appearance featuring its own distinctive colours and shades.
Our seven deserving runners-up, each receiving a cheque for £100, are as follows:
Mr Phil Turner of Aberdeenshire has created a contemporary outdoor space using Bradstone's Natural Granite Paving in Silver Grey and Mid Grey. The combination of the two colours is both classic and contemporary, whilst the product has been expertly laid using the three available sizes.
Mr Adrian Wood from Berkshire has created a lovely raised patio area using Bradstone's Old Riven Paving in Autumn Cotswold. We're sure that you'll agree that the combination of the paving, decorative aggregates and lawn make this an attractive garden that's also perfect for family use.
Our next entry is from Mr Marc Prema-Ratner of Greater London with the ultra contemporary Bradstone Grand Natural Sandstone Paving in Imperial White. The sandstone really compliments the outside of the property, looking good both day and night.
Mr Roger Gissing of South Yorkshire has used a combination of products purchased from Simply Paving to totally transform his patio area. The products on display are Bradstone's Liscia Paving in Cream together with Bradstone Pitched Walling and Textured Coping both in the buff shade. The entry shows that these products really complement each other well.
Here we have a further example of Bradstone's Natural Slate Paving in Vijaya Gold, this time demonstrating the beauty of the product in both the dry and the wet. We think you'll agree that Christina Randall from Hampshire has created a stunning patio area which really highlights the natural beauty and variation exhibited in this stone.
Our next entry from Rebecca Warden of Rhondda Cyynon Taf again demonstrates how using Bradstone's Natural Granite Paving in Silver Grey and Mid Grey can create a superb contemporary outdoor space. For contemporary minimalist style with maximum effect, Natural Granite Paving is hard to beat.
Last but by no means least, Dawn Swepstone from Nottinghamshire has used the Bradstone Ancestry Paving in Abbey Brown with matching Circle and Accessory Kit to create a traditional feeling to the garden. The whole look of the paved area is perfectly complemented by the slate chippings and potted plants.
Congratulations to all of our winners and again, thank you to everyone who entered the competition. You will find many of the images entered into the competition will be featured on our website and in our gallery, hopefully proving to be a source of inspiration to all of our customers.
