Bradstone, part of the Aggregate Industries Group, is a leading name in the manufacture and supply of domestic paving, walling, edging, decorative aggregates and driveway products. As such they have a strong sense of responsibility regarding the impact of their day to day operations on the environment. In support of this they continually look for ways in which they can minimise the effects of their operations and services, while also focusing in on sustainability in the development of their product range.

Environment and Community Policy

As part of Aggregate Industries, one of the largest producers and suppliers of building and construction materials including aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete products, Bradstone works to the principles of the Group's Environment and Community Policy.

This Policy underlines their commitment to increasing the sustainability of their business activities, laying down clear directives such as:

  • Promoting the use of sustainable construction methods
  • Managing landholdings so that biodiversity is protected and enhanced
  • Establishing systems to prevent pollution and nuisance to local communities
  • Encouraging recycling and reduction of waste and reducing the use of energy
  • Raising environmental awareness amongst employees through training and development
  • Periodic testing of products to meet quality requirements
  • The Aggregate Industries environmental management system is certified to IS014001: 2004 and covers the full scope of its business activities.

As a leading supplier with a reputation for bringing new and innovative hard landscaping products to market on a regular basis, StoneFlair is more conscious than ever of its corporate and social responsibilities. As such they have a strong sense of responsibility regarding the impact of their day to day operations on the environment. In support of this they continually look for ways in which they can minimise the effect of their operations and services, and focus on sustainability in the development of their product range.

StoneFlair are working hard to fulfil their ethical obligations when trading with other nations, and to comply with local laws and internationally recognised standards. As a company, they work to the principles of the UN Global Compact and their procurement policy and supplier qualification programme includes consideration of social accountability criteria and ISO 14001 certification.

Bradstone and StoneFlair's Ethical Trading Initiatives are independently audited by SGS to ensure that their supply chain will always meet the principles put in place by the United Nations on such issues as human rights, anti-corruption and the environment. Some examples of the criteria their suppliers have to meet are:

  • Prohibition of child labour
  • Provision of safe and healthy workplace
  • Provision of all employment rights
  • Periodic testing of products to meet quality requirements
  • Paying wages that meet or exceed national legal standards
