Heavy Duty Paving
Do I need heavy-duty paving?
An area designed for heavy footfall calls for heavy-duty paving. Similarly, council paving slabs are essential if you are laying pedestrian zones or walkways.
When shopping for commercial slabs, you will need to pay attention to the finish. Our council paving stones are designed to be slip-resistant, so they are much safer in adverse weather conditions.
You should also focus on the thickness of your paving slabs. Dense and much thicker than domestic slabs, high-grade commercial paving slabs usually range between 50-70mm in thickness (domestic paving slabs are usually up to 40mm thick). This makes them suitable for occasional vehicle traffic such as road sweepers. If you're after paving that is suitable for driveways, then we would always recommend block paving, which has been specifically designed for this purpose.
What can I use heavy-duty paving for?
Pavements
From brightly coloured tactile pavers to textured concrete paving slabs, our commercial paving provides everything you need for a durable pedestrian-friendly pavement.
For a uniform finish, pair our British Standard paving with our British Standard kerbs to create a reliable pavement. We also offer Charcon Tactile paving for pedestrian crossings, giving the blind and visually impaired a safe guide of where to cross the road.
Entrances to office, retail and educational spaces
At Charcon, safety is a key concern. That’s why their pavers have been designed to help prevent people from slipping and injuring themselves.
For high traffic areas, Simply Paving recommend Charcon Moordale pavers. Available in two colours and built with a textured, non-slip finish, it’s the perfect paver for icy and wet days.
When it comes to paving steps, you can never be too careful. To guarantee safety, opt for our Charcon Tactile paving with a Hazard Warning Corduroy finish – designed specifically for steps and stairs.
Train and bus station walkways
Again, the ultra-reliable Charcon Moordale paving is a great option for heavy-duty projects. It’s cost-effective, ideal for laying large areas of solid colour, and durable enough to withstand throngs of bustling commuters.
For peace of mind, we recommend combining this with Charcon Tactile paving on transport walkways. Specifically, the Platform Edge Lozenge finish will give commuters guidance when approaching public transport.
