Continue reading, below, to find out the answers to the most common questions we get asked about porcelain slabs.
What can I use porcelain paving for?
Outdoor porcelain slabs are an always versatile choice, able to create beautiful patios and pathways, as well as offering an indoor tiles solution. However, you shouldn’t use porcelain patio slabs on a driveway – instead, you need purpose-built block paving that can handle the weight of vehicles without cracking.
Don’t worry if you’ve got your heart set on a porcelain driveway though, we have plenty of porcelain external paving options in our domestic block paving collection.

What's the difference between ceramic, vitrified and porcelain paving?
Many manufacturers often use paving terms ‘ceramic’, ‘vitrified’ and ‘porcelain’ interchangeably. However, there are some subtle differences between these types of pavers.
For example, vitrified and porcelain slabs are designed for outdoor use. This is thanks to their clays being fired to a very high temperature that creates a hard and durable finish to stand the test of time.
Ceramic, on the other hand, can refer to a variety of materials, including porcelain slabs, some of which may not be suitable for outdoor use.
All in all, if you’re determined to choose ceramic paving for your outdoor space, then make sure the material is fit-for-purpose. Otherwise, play it safe with our range of beautiful and ever-reliable outdoor porcelain slabs.

How to clean porcelain paving?
Porcelain slabs are non-porous, which means you don’t need to spend time scrubbing stubborn stains or buying sealants. Instead, all you need is a bucket of warm, soapy water and a sponge to clean your porcelain patio. Easy!

Is porcelain paving slippery when wet?
Porcelain is rated as one of the least slippery surfaces available for paving slabs, ranking at an R13 anti-slip rating. This means that, even when wet or frosty, a porcelain patio offers a steady and gripping surface underfoot.
