Delivery

Deliveries normally occur between 8am and 6pm*. Once your order has been placed you will be contacted and provided with an exact date of delivery.

This vehicle will lower the product to the ground using an electric lift. The pallet of products is then pulled off using a manual pallet truck. It is imperative that the ground that the pallet is unloaded onto is flat and solid. Access may be needed for a rigid lorry (up to 20ft) otherwise additional delivery charges may be made. For larger orders alternative delivery methods can be arranged. Please call our office to discuss any delivery requirements or for clarification.

Our customer services team will advise how to prepare for receipt of ordered goods. Our delivery team are not responsible for any additional lifting or carrying of your goods.

We do not deliver items to multiple addresses.

All full packs and all orders containing at least one full pack will be delivered free of charge*. All orders of £300 or more (even if only containing individual units) will be delivered free of charge*. Orders for individual units with an order value of less than £300 usually have a flat delivery charge of £30.

*Delivery is free on orders with full packs except for deliveries to the postcodes AB, BT, DD, GY, HS, IM, IV, JE, KA27-28, KW, PA20+, PH, P030-41, TR21-25 and ZE. Please refer to our Delivery Policy for a table of charges or if you would like further information please call 0800 032 6306.

Delivery will normally be less than 7 days (typically 3-5 working days). Simply Paving will aim to contact you by email or directly by phone within two working days of your order to suggest a delivery date. If the date provided is unsuitable please get in touch and we will re-arrange the delivery date.

For further information please refer to our Delivery Policy.

*In summer months delivery times can be up until 8pm due to the volume of deliveries being made, however, this is a relatively rare occurrence.

Laying

The area to be paved should first of all be dug out to a depth of at least 200mm. The area should then be back filled with 150mm of MoT/crusher run, compacted to 100mm.

Once the area is prepared, the laying of each flag can commence. The actual mortar bed is prepared individually for each and every flag. The bed will consist of a semi-dry mortar mix, using 4 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement. Spot bedding should never be used for paving, as the flag will not be sufficiently supported.

Being a dense material Porcelain paving does not readily take up water, therefore, a bond bridge primer (such as Bradstone Bradbond Slurry Primer) will help the paving adhere to the bed. Use a masonry brush to coat the entire underside of the flag immediately prior to laying. Take care to avoid getting any primer on the face of the flags as it sets rock hard and can be impossible to remove if allowed to dry.

Once in place, each flag can be consolidated by tapping them down, either with a rubber mallet or by keeping a piece of softwood between a hammer or mallet and the flag. Continually check levels and falls during the laying process across the top surface profile of a number of flags at a time.

A plasticiser can be added to the mortar mix to improve its workability and also ensure all air pockets are eliminated.

Please refer to our guide How to Lay Flag Paving.
